How to Make Hip Hop Beats on Garage Band

Let’s start with the basics to more advanced techniques. By the time you finish reading this guide, you’ll be able to create beats that sound like a professional producer made them!

First, you’ll need to download and install Garage Band or your favorite music making software. The process is simple – go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for “Garage Band.”

 Once installed, open it up, and you’ll see this screen:

Now we’re ready to start making beats! The first thing you’ll need to do is select a beat style. Garage Band comes with various styles to choose from, including hip hop, rock, reggae, and more. To choose a type, tap. 

on the “Style” button in the top-left corner of the screen:

Once you’ve selected a style, it’s time to start creating your beat. 

To do this, tap on the “New Track” button in the top-left corner of the screen:

Tap on the “Tempo” slider to set the tempo and drag it to the left or right. You can also type in a specific rhythm if you know what you want. The second thing you need to set up is the key. The key determines which notes will sound good when played together. Tap on the “Key” button to set the key and select a key from the list.

Now that you’ve set up the tempo and key, it’s time to start making your rap beats! The first step is to select a drum kit. To do this, tap on the “Drums.” 

Once you’ve selected a drum kit, it’s time to start creating your beat. The first step is to add a bass line. To do this, tap on the “Bass” button in the bottom-left corner of the screen:

To create a bass line, tap on the notes and drag them to where you want them to be. You can also change the note’s duration by tapping and holding on to the note, then sliding your finger up or down. 

Now it’s time to add some melody! To do this, tap on the “Melodies” button in the bottom-left corner of the screen:

To create a melody, tap on the notes and drag them to where you want them to be. You can also change the note’s duration by tapping and holding on to the note, then sliding your finger up or down. When you finish, press the “Done” button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Select a format and tap on the “Export” button to export your beat. Garage Band will export your beat as a .wav or .aiff file. Import the file into any audio software or DAW.
